Meet our Team

Cynthia Richards, MD, MS

Dr. Richards joined Cape Fear Physical Medicine & Rehab in 2008. She completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University and went on to earn a Masters degree from Columbia University. She graduated medical school at the University of Vermont and completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh (UPMC), where she served as chief resident during her final year. She served active duty in the US Army as a Major at Womack Army Medical Center and as Brigade Surgeon, 3rd Heavy Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Medical Badge. Dr. Richards has particular interests in lifestyle medicine and helping her patients achieve their individualized wellness goals.  She is certified in medical acupuncture, lifestyle medicine and board certified in obesity medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Richards finds joy spending time in nature with her family, their Cane Corsos and retired race horse.

Meisha Abbasinejad, MD

Dr. Abbasinejad completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University. She graduated with honors from Howard University where she earned her medical degree. She completed her residency at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC Her particular areas of interest include musculoskeletal medicine, spinal procedures and electro diagnostics. Dr. Abbasinejad has practiced in Fayetteville, NC for 18 years and is one of the founding members of Cape Fear Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation established in 2005.
